(b.1956) Bovina MS

After surviving a fire a few years ago which destroyed his entire home and studio, Simmons forges on, painting and sculpting his unique brand of vernacular pop art, within the sprawling environs of his yet unfinished roofing tin & 2 x 4 monolith. He has been featured on Kansas City Public Television's Rare Visions and Roadside Revelations, and in books such as Earl's Art Shop: Building Art with Earl Simmons by Stephen Flinn Young and D.C. Young, Only in Mississippi by Lorraine Redd and Jack Davis, and Light of the Spirit: Portraits of Southern Outsider Artists by Karekin Goekjian.
